Vintage Wedding Photography at The Tythe Barn, Launton with Karen & Rob

A VW Camper Van, homemade cakes, a precious brand new addition and lots of love

There was a huge sense of anticipation leading up to their special day.  Just days before the wedding Karen & Rob welcomed a gorgeous baby granddaughter to the world – ready to join in the fun.  Karen & Rob beamed with pride on their day.  Not only with excitement (to have their new addition to the family arrive in time was just perfect), but with pure joy that finally they were tying the knot.  I became swept up in it all I have to admit.  The Tythe Barn at Launton, near Bicester Oxfordshire looked utterly splendiferous.  Bedecked with thousands of posies of country-themed flowers, the barn really played it’s part in creating the vintage atmosphere Karen & Rob wanted for their day.  Platters of homemade cakes lovingly created by the guests made a magnificent spread and allowed family and friends to play a part.  Karen & Rob had chosen a superb VW Camper Van from Peartree Weddings named Daphne to take them from the church to the barn in style and they made the most of their time with this vintage lady.  I loved every minute spent with this wonderful couple and their friends & family.  It’s a day I’ll never forget, photography or people-wise. I wish I could’ve stayed for the cakes!  Congratulations to a very special couple, my love and best wishes to you and yours.

One Snowy Day in Spring…

Laura & Fred basked in the hot sunshine of March 2012 and decided to set their wedding date for a year later.  Spring 2013 however didn’t materialise.  By the time the big day arrived winter was still clinging on stubbornly with its icy fingers.  We did what Brits do best; sleeves were rolled up, last minute weather related adjustments were made and a stiff upper lip was displayed by all. The weather simply enhanced the excitement and created a sparkling, magical atmosphere. Everyone snuggled in safely for the ceremony and Laura gracefully arrived at Fred’s side.  Serene and smiling throughout, Laura was determined to keep calm and carry on with our plans for the photographs.  Donning her practicle boots and armed with a huge surge of adrenalin, Laura hitched up her dress and strode down the steps of Britwell House to play in the snow with her new husband. None of us felt the cold as we took in the beautiful gardens and marvelled at the beauty of the house dressed in white.

This was one of those unique days where fate played its part…Britwell House is a fairytale venue for a wedding. Laura & Fred are a fairytale couple & a true joy to be around.  And the snow made the fairytale complete, the frosting on the cake.

One couple’s fairytale

12th June 2010…I strolled through the sun dappled gardens of The Tythe Barn at Launton.  Close by were Drew and Victoria, that very hour newly wed.  They giggled, gazed and smooched as I photographed, it was a truly memorable day, full of love and excitement.  Fast forward to a chilly February morning in 2013, there’s a knock at my door and in from the cold appear Victoria, Drew and…..Sam!  Two have become three and I had the absolute honour of photographing my beautiful bride and groom once more, this time with their perfect dumpling of loveliness Sam.

Sam found my strange noises and deranged expressions at first bemusing, followed by interesting and finally entertaining.  Smiles were plentiful and I got that whole ‘grit your teeth ‘cos you want to scrumble them up’ feeling with Sam, he’s a joyful little man.  It means the world to be able to document this wonderful couple’s adventures, long may it last.

Sam, Heidi and their very special day

When I first met Sam & Heidi I could tell that sealing their partnership meant everything to them.   It was all very exciting and I was so delighted Sam & Heidi chose me to photograph what would be my first civil partnership.  Dresses were chosen separately and with great secrecy. On the morning of the wedding they beautified together in the stunning Dovecote at The Tythe Barn.  However, when it came to putting on the secret dresses they kissed a brief goodbye and ‘see you soon!’  Heidi and her very proud father were first to walk up the aisle where she waited for Sam to follow with her equally glowing dad.  They couldn’t hide their surprise and delight when they saw each other’s dresses for the first time.  Amazed giggles….by coincidence they’d both chosen dresses by the same designer and they complimented one another beautifully!  The Civil Partnership Ceremony was personal, magical and emotional.  The feeling of love from family and friends was so strong and their support such an intrinsic part of the celebration.

I have to say I was completely caught up in the day and spellbound by this couple. Sam & Heidi literally radiated joy and love, so many smiles and so much pure happiness.  I wish them all the very best for the future, I’ll certainly never forget their beautiful day.

Anna & Dan’s perfect celebration…

Weather was kind, family was poised and ready, Joseph was busy being cute and plied with various bribes to keep him smiling as he waited eagerly for Mummy & Daddy to get married.  The Oxford Belfry was witness to a day full of pampering, preening, beautifying, worrying, laughing, anticipation, emotion, jubilation and most of all….sheer happiness.  Anna and Dan had waited a long time for their big day and when it came it was all they’d hoped for.  Family and friends came together to celebrate this gorgeous pair tying the knot and Joseph brought a tear to everyone’s eye when he charged down the aisle to be the first to give the bride and groom a celebratory hug. I loved being with these guys on their day, I felt at home, all warm and fluffy.  Congratulations to a really wonderful couple…

Sarah & Dean’s Wedding at Marylebone Town Hall, London

Bunting, Pageants, Jubilation….all for Sarah & Dean!

It’s always interesting when a country bumpkin like me gets to travel beyond the fields and cow poo smells.  Wide eyed and full of wonder I arrived early at Marylebone Town Hall and entertained myself by sitting on the steps outside by the stone lions, watching the crazy hustle and bustle.  The wedding party suddenly arrived by Taxi and Routemaster Bus, the bride beating the groom by a good five minutes, go girl!

We made our way to the elegant Yellow Room for the ceremony.  Knowing that Liam Gallagher had TWICE married in this very room made me wonder(wall) if I’d feel his presence still.  Happily not.  The room in fact was filled with anticipation as two families prepared to join together with Sarah & Dean leading the way.  As the ceremony commenced Dean couldn’t hold back the tears.  Of course that set me off (man + tears = me blubbing) and I had to blink my way through their vows.  Suddenly the girls became sisters and the boys became brothers. Hugs, kisses and smiles all round.

Back on the bus, we journeyed to St. Katharine’s Docks and arrived at the intimate, sublime Riverlounge Italian.  Flags flying and bunting flapping in the breeze, the setting certainly befitted such a great celebration.  The icing on the cake was….the cake. Drum roll….a Choccywoccydoodah Cake no less!  Created in Brighton and lovingly, carefully shipped up to London, the cake was Sarah & Dean’s main reason for getting married. Well, that and the fact that they were meant to be together and clearly love each other more than…cake!  I am sad to say I didn’t get to sample it but am considering a divorce/remarry same man scenario to enable this.  I really, really LOVED this day!

Laura & Tim’s Wedding at The Tythe Barn, Launton

Beautiful people, beautiful day…

At last, the much anticipated day had arrived. I walked into the elegant Bridal Suite at The Dovecote to find Laura surrounded with her bridesmaids and knee high in more cosmetics than I’ve ever seen in one place!  Tim surrounded himself with his lads and got lost on the way to the barn.  But all was wonderful…the ceremony was full of emotion, the guest were full of merriment, the children were entertained.  However, the thing that shone through most on that chilly but dry day was the huge love shared between the gorgeous bride and groom.  I know its a huge cliche but this is truly a match made in heaven.

Kathryn & Colin’s Wedding Day

We’d made plans for a rainy, windy, cold day….just in case.  But we shouldn’t have worried, waking up on this late March morning was a joy – blue skies and gorgeous sunshine.  And talking of joy, the whole day from start to finish was full of it.  Kathryn was glowing from the moment she arrived at the Tythe Barn, Launton.  Colin waited patiently for his stunning new bride to join him in the doorway of the barn for their ceremony, their guests basking outside in the sun.

We had a fantastic time and Kathryn & Colin seemed to soak up every minute of their celebration.  It was so easy to capture the love that enveloped these newlyweds, it was in the air and all around.  Have a truly wonderful life together….

Richard & Liz’s Wedding Day

The Tythe Barn, Launton – Oh, such a perfect day

[slideshow id=14]

The anticipation had been building for weeks and finally Richard & Liz’s big day arrived on the 19th November.  I won’t beat around the bush, these two are totally bonkers. We’d had great fun mucking around at The Tythe Barn in Launton a couple of weeks before and I knew their day was going to be one to remember.  It all started perfectly with bright blue skies, chilly but gorgeous.  Liz made the rather splendid decision to stay in The Dovecote at Manor Farm next to the barn and that’s where I found her that morning, surrounded by her ladies.  Much beautifying occurred and merriment/sandwiches were had by all.  In the meantime, back at The Barn the lovely boys did a conga for me and showed off their personalised socks with pride.  The groom seemed relaxed and ready, the bride seemed relaxed and….late.  But soon she was galloping down the aisle and the rest is history, preserved with love by me and my camera of course.  This was one of those weddings where I really was sad to leave.  These lovebirds had simply invited me to photograph their wedding but as I left I felt like one of the family.  I’ll never forget this day and I wish Richard and Liz all the happiness they deserve.

Neil & Katie’s Wedding Day

A Beautiful Wedding at Great Missenden Church & The Pavilion, Lane End

[slideshow id=6]The rain it fell, in great volume.  Then lo, it stopeth as the bride arrived at the church and out cameth the sun! The church at Great Missenden made a grand setting for a gorgeous heartfelt ceremony.  Katie & Neil were surrounded by so much love and it really does show.  A great time was had by all after at The Pavilion, Lane End where the band, Suede Alien, played late into the evening.  The weather was kind, the day went perfectly and the bride & groom lived happily ever after….
